Accessibility Plan:

 

The accessibility plan for our event at The Moorings Lakehouse organic farm ensures that all attendees, regardless of their mode of transportation or physical abilities, can enjoy the event comfortably.

1. Private Car Access:

   - Provide accessible parking spaces close to the event entrance for attendees arriving by private car.

   - Clearly mark accessible parking areas and ensure they are well-maintained to accommodate wheelchair users and individuals with mobility aids.

 

2. No Stairs Accessibility:

   - Ensure that a pathway or entrance route is provided within the event area free from stairs or other barriers, allowing for easy navigation for attendees with mobility impairments.

   - Provide alternative routes or assistance for attendees who may encounter obstacles or uneven terrain.

 

3. Accessibility Information:

   - Include an access and inclusion statement on the event website,  highlighting the availability of accessibility features and encouraging attendees to contact the operator for more details.

   - Provide detailed information about accessibility features, including transportation options, parking facilities, and venue layout, to assist attendees in planning their visit.

 

4. Staff Training:

   - Train event staff and volunteers to be aware of accessibility considerations and to provide assistance and support to attendees with disabilities.

   - Ensure that staff are knowledgeable about the location of accessible facilities and services and are prepared to address any accessibility-related inquiries or concerns.

 

5. Continuous Improvement:

   - Regularly review and evaluate the accessibility plan in collaboration with accessibility advocates and community members.

   - Solicit feedback from attendees with disabilities to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance accessibility in future events.

 

By implementing these measures, we ensure that our food festival at The Moorings Lakehouse is accessible to all attendees, promoting inclusivity and providing an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Sustainability Policy

Sustainability Plan for The Shuck & Shell event at The Moorings Lakehouse:

 

1. Water Conservation:

   - Utilize the existing on-site rainwater harvesting systems to collect and store rainwater for all event needs.

   - Encourage attendees to use water wisely through signage and education about water conservation practices.

 

2. Waste Management:

   - Utilise the existing on-site comprehensive waste water management system to minimize waste generation. This is served through existing red beds and evaporation pits that are located on the road side of the ridge line ensuring no waste water enters the lake.

   - Utilise compostable or reusable serving ware and containers to reduce single-use plastics.

   - Provide recycling bins and composting facilities, ensuring all waste is properly sorted and disposed of.

 

3. Energy Efficiency:

   - Maximize energy efficiency by utilizing the existing solar-generated power and batteries for75% of the event's energy needs.

   - Use energy-efficient lighting and equipment throughout the event venue.

 

4. Environmental Impact Mitigation:

   - Design the event layout to minimize disturbance to the natural surroundings of the organic farm.

   - Use eco-friendly materials for signage, decorations, and infrastructure.

   - Implement measures to prevent pollution and protect natural habitats, such as controlling noise levels and minimizing light pollution in the evening.

 

5. Education and Awareness:

   - Provide educational materials and resources about sustainable fishing practices and organic farming methods.

   - Include in the  workshops information environmental sustainability topics.

   - Encourage attendees to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives during the workshops.

6. Community Engagement:

   - Invite local environmental organizations and community groups to the event to promote sustainability initiatives.

   - Engage attendees in hands-on activities and volunteer opportunities related to environmental conservation.

   - Foster a sense of environmental responsibility and stewardship among event attendees.

 

7. Continuous Improvement:

   - Evaluate the environmental impact of the event and identify areas for improvement.

   - Solicit feedback from attendees, vendors, and partners to inform future sustainability efforts.

   - Continuously strive to reduce the environmental footprint of the food festival and promote sustainable practices.
